Prodestur Segovia Turismo has organized, along with the ONCE Foundation, a hiking route to the dehesa of Moros River Gorge in El Espinar, next March 27.
It is an accessible didactic excursion of low difficulty, inside the Biosphere Reserve, in the Natural Park of the Sierra Norte de Guadarrama, which will start in the La Panera recreational area, for about three hours, ascend through the Moros River Gorge, among beautiful pine forests, to the first reservoir of El Tejo.
In the tour you can see a clear example of wild pine forest, dedicated to logging and was one of the first forests in which a forest management was applied. It was carried out by the mountain engineer José Jordana and saw the light in 1862 published with the title Memory of recognition of the mountain of the Throat of those of El Espinar.
Among other attractions of the route is the so-called Cardosillo Pine, stationed in the vicinity of the stream of the same name and one of the most emblematic specimens of the whole pine forest for its unique characteristics. With its more than 30 meters in height, the perimeter of its base needs three people to surround it with their arms.
There are also remains of the old huts used by the gabarreros to shelter from the inclement weather during their days in the pine forest, where they went to extract firewood.
The cost of the activity is 3 euros and includes round trip bus, specialized guides during the route and accident insurance. The departure of the bus will be to the 10: 15 hours from the parking of the Velodrome and to the 10: 25 hours from the stop of the Civil Guard Barracks. The arrival in Segovia is scheduled on the 15: 15 hours. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, sun protection, water and supplies.
