Between February 3 and 7, on the occasion of “5 days of El Dorado”, Torreón de Lozoya will exceptionally expand its regime of guided tours to the exhibition "Dürer. Renaissance Master ”from Monday to Friday at 19:00 p.m., thus collaborating with the promotion of one of the star dishes of Segovia Gastronomy, the suckling pig.
The exhibition consists of a selection of 70 prints by the German artist Alberto Durero, from private collections. Through them, an interesting tour of the production of this undisputed genius of engraving is offered, which raised its different techniques to the category of artwork. Among the works on display are important masterpieces that gave their author unprecedented fame throughout Europe, including Renaissance Italy; such is the case of the "Struggle between Hercules and Caco", "The Virgin and the Child with the monkey", "The martyrdom of Saint Catherine", "Saint Eustatius", the "Coat of arms with the skull", "The big horse ”,“ The Adoration of the Kings ”, the“ Portrait of Frederick the Wise ”, etc. Also present are two of his "Meisterstiche" ("absolute masterpieces"), "The Melancholy" and "The Knight, Death and the Devil", as well as the series dedicated to "The Life of the Virgin" and the so-called " Small passion on copper. ” Last but not least is the presence in the exhibition of the "Triumphal car", a personal commission of Emperor Maximilian I.
