Segovia Film Office (SGFO) is the office of audiovisual promotion non-profit and with a vocation of public service managed by the Municipal Tourism Company of the Segovian capital. The main objective of SGFO is the promotion of the city, inside and outside our borders, through the promotion of the culture of the image, as well as the stimulation and consolidation of the cinematographic and audiovisual offer together with all the services that it originates. . Its scope includes not only the Segovian capital, but also the incorporated neighborhoods: Fuentemilanos, Hontoria, Madrona, Perogordo, Torredondo and Zamarramala; and the Revenga Minor Local Entity.
Segovia Film Office began its activity more than a decade ago, at 2008, and to date it has managed about five hundred files between shootings and locations, becoming a point of reference for those interested in filming in our city. In 2019, the Old Segovia Prison continues to be one of the most important locations. Of the 34 shootings that have been managed to date, 16 have had this scenario
This year it is worth highlighting some shootings with great media repercussions, such as Line Walker 2 and the Dime who I am series, which had the Plaza Mayor as a stage and had a large number of city figures; and the 30 Monedas series by Alex de la Iglesia and the feature Bajo Cero, directed by Lluis Quilez, which were shot in the Old Segovia Prison. Several series such as Promises in the Arena, Las Chicas del Cable or Velvet have also shot part of their chapters. Cinematic tourism is an attractive product for many visitors. Segovia Tourism offers thematic visits on demand and also has a small guide to the shootings that have been made in Segovia.
The purpose of SFO is to continue collaborating with those interested in filming in Segovia and continue helping to generate wealth, as the shootings positively revert in different economic sectors (maintenance, accommodation, technical services, security, equipment rents, payment of occupancy rates of public roads, use of municipal services ...). According to the data provided by the producers, it is estimated that the income for the city in the different sectors amounts to 100.000 euros per year.
On the other hand, the Segovia Convention Bureau (SGCB) congress office is the business unit whose main objective is the promotion of the city as the venue for congresses, conventions and incentive trips, as well as the capture of them. In the first semester of 2019 the office has participated in the organization of 60 events without counting those organized by Segovia Tourism or sports events in which it has collaborated. These events have brought 7270 delegates to the city of which 76,9% were Spanish.
According to the latest data available from the Spain Convention Bureau, each of the 7270 delegates spent an average of 103,58 euros per day. Allocating an 34,6% to the accommodation, an 25,9% to the registration fee, an 15,2% to restoration, an 11,4% to purchases, an 8,09% to leisure activities, an 2,4% to internal transport at destination and an 1,6% to others expenses. The impact on the local economy in this first half of 2019 is estimated around 1.506.000 euros.
The activity has been increasing year after year since the launch of the Segovia Congress Office, from 12 events and 1435 delegates in the year 2009 to 92 events and 10884 delegates in 2018. This year is expected to exceed this last figure. The three main sectors of activity to which the organizing bodies of the meetings belong continue to be, in order of importance, the medical-health, the economic-commercial and the university.
The meeting market is mainly concentrated in the spring and autumn months (March, April, May, June, September, October and November). Seven months in which almost 89% of the total meetings are concentrated. Regarding the number of participants per meeting, the meetings of 50 to 150 participants continue to be the most common (62,2%), and the average duration of meetings is 2,47 days. Regarding complementary activities, the most demanded were, in this order, tourism, such as excursions and guided tours, followed by gastronomic and cultural. The demand for gastronomic and shopping activities continues to increase.
In addition, from 2008 the Booking Center optimizes the quality of the tourist offer using new technologies as a tool that favors the dissemination of the city's tourist-cultural attractions, enhances existing tourist products, diversifies the offer, and increases the competitiveness of The different products and services. In addition, it facilitates small businesses access to high-level marketing, and the customer to obtain a broad knowledge of the offer.
Throughout the year, the Reservation Center hires official tourism guides to meet the demand of private groups and some of the guided tours offered by Segovia Tourism, thus favoring local employment. The invoicing obtained by the commercialization of guided tours and by the sale of tickets for events and multiple tourist products amounts up to September from 2019 to 488.552 euros. A rising figure every year, which goes from 40.000 euros in 2015 to almost 610.000 euros in 2018.
The Booking Center offers products and services from different suppliers, such as active tourism companies (horse riding, canoeing, ballooning, etc.); companies that conduct commented tastings of products from our local cuisine (craft beer, local wines, Dyc Whiskey or sausage); and companies that carry out craft workshops, educational workshops for schoolchildren, theatrical visits or a flamenco workshop.
On the other hand, 22 travel agencies and tour operators sell the Segovia Tourism star product "Guided Tours Meet Segovia", thus reaching many more clients. In conclusion, we can affirm that Segovia has consolidated the city's tourist success, consolidating itself as a leading destination in the region.
