The community of Jeronimos Monks of Santa María del Parral de Segovia will open the doors of their monastery next Saturday, September 28 on the occasion of the sixteenth centenary of the transit of St. Jerome. To commemorate this date, the Prior of the order Fray Andrés García Torralvo and his companions have scheduled a series of events, among which an iconographic exhibition on the figure of the saint stands out. In it, you can see a small sample of the various works that the community of the Jeronimos Monks of Santa María del Parral keeps on the Holy Doctor, translator of the Bible into Latin.
You can admire paintings, images, goldsmithing, engravings, reliefs, or liturgical ornaments that show their devotional appearance. All of them are elements that the monks have treasured and expose as a result of the devotion they have professed over the centuries. All works of art are property of the order that have been acquired over the years, either as donations, as gifts or were bought by the first monks to adorn the different rooms of the monastery.
After the events, the exhibition may be visited in October and November. It will be open to the public On Saturdays, 5, 12, 19 and 26 from October to 17.30 hours and Saturday November 2 and Thursday 7, both days from the 17.30 hours. Admission is free and the visit will always be guided by a monk of the order. It is not necessary to make any previous reservation but from the organization they warn that if necessary due to the volume of visitors, visiting shifts will be made depending on the arrival at the monastery.
