The winter edition of the 921 Musical District cycle will program from the 19 from November to the 28 of December a total of five concerts of eclectic dyes as well as the projection of a silent film with live music and two workshops for children and young people.
The program designed by the Don Juan de Borbón Foundation will begin on November 19 with the concert-tribute to the Royal Academy of History and Art of San Quirce on the centenary of the birth of the Segovia Popular University. Framed in the events of this anniversary will be held the concert 'In foreign lands', a recital by Delia Agúndez (soprano), Mª Alejandra Saturno (viola de gamba) and Alicia Lázaro (lute) that takes a tour of works by different masters of chapel travelers, among which are some of the Songbook of Segovia, a compilation for the use of the Court of Isabel La Católica in the Alcazar of Segovia. The recital, which will be held at 20: 00 hours in the church of San Quirce, is also a tribute to the V Centenary of the First Tour of the Magallanes-Elcano World.
The next appointment will be held on December 7 at 20: 00 hours at the Diego Fernández Auditorium in the San Lorenzo neighborhood. There will be held the concert 'Paris 1900 / Melodies of the Belle'poque' with which I will remember Ensemble, composed by Sandra Ferró (soprano) and Jaume Gimeno (harp), will transport us to the cafeteria gatherings frequented by social and cultural groups from the French capital of the time.
Silent cinema and music star in the next date on the calendar of this winter edition of 921 Musical District. It will be the December 13 at 20: 00 hours in the auditorium of the IES Mariano Quintanilla in the El Salvador neighborhood. There the film 'Sherlock Jr.' will be screened. of 1924, directed and starring Buster Keaton and with the performances of Kathryn McGuire, Joe Keaton and Ward Crane. The one in charge of putting music will be the pianist and composer Jordi Sabatés, creator of an ad hoc musical band for the film, one of the little known jewels of the filmography of the American actor and director.
Already immersed in the Christmas season, it will be the Escolanía de Segovia which will offer two concerts on December 19 at 20: 00 hours in the Church of San Miguel and the December 20 at the same time in the Parish Church of San Sebastián , in the neighborhood of Revenga. The children's choir of the Don Juan de Borbón Foundation will double with its Christmas Concert for the Segovian public's delight.
The concert cycle ends on December 28 by Nativitas, which collects and values folk music, focusing this time on the Spanish Christmas tradition. From the 20: 00 hours in the church of the Virgen de la Cerca in Madrona, the group composed of Jesús Ronda, Jaime Lafuente, María Desbordes and Carlos Soto, the latter one of the founders of the mythical group Celtas Cortos, will offer the recital 'Christmas Songs and Kings'.
On January 3 and 4, the Don Juan de Borbón Foundation organized the Christmas Divertimentos artistic workshops for children from 6 to 10 years and youth from 11 to 14 years. Taught by Tamanka Theater, these free workshops immerse participants in the practice of different artistic skills such as dance, painting, or music to connect with participants and discover their most artistic side.
The first group, children from 6 to 10 years, will hold their workshop on January 3 from 11: 30 to 13: 30 hours, and the second, youth from 11 to 14 years, the January 4 from 11: 00 to 14: 00 hours. Both workshops will be held in the María de Pablos Room of the Reading House - Municipal Library of Segovia and to register it is necessary to fill out a 'Christmas Fun' form on the website www.fundaciondonjuandeborbon.org. The registration period is open from 2 to December 20.
